Best anti cat spikes

Roseberry

Mama Doe
Hi.

I have been reading back through other posts, via search tool, for research and am planning on getting some of the above for my garden fence.

Has anyone else bought any? If so, where from and do they work? I have been looking at these, but some on amazon dont have great reviews, seem like the cats can still walk on them?!

I only let my buns free range when we can supervise, although its not 100% of the time, we just check they arent digging out etc. Next door has 3 cats and we keep having to chase them off the fence. Neighbours are happy for us to put the spikes up. I love cats and dont want to hurt them but I dont want them to pounce on my bunnies.

FYI these are the threads i have read

They look a good choice  Similar to others I have seen.

Just wondering, how do these work exactly though, if say an animal jumps on them, then falls into your garden, and it is scared to try and get out again?

as in my OP i dont wish to hurt any cats, I am looking at plastic spikes which dont hurt them only make it unpleasant to walk on to discourage them for climbing on my fence.

its a trade off, i  being able to allow my bunnies to free range but dont want to have to worry about cats pouncing on them.

Be warned they might not work
My cats can navigate over a wall with broken glass all over the top and manuver themselves through all the barbed wire on next doors fence

hopefully the cat would realise before they got fully up onto the fence and go back down the side they came up. cats are pretty clever like that. tbh i dont think that a cat that was that timid would get up onto the fence in the first place. but it is a valid point.

Garden is small so cats dont NEED to come in it, its easy to go round and neighbours who own said cats are fine with it.

got ours off ebay and yes they work, we got brown plastic ones to match fence colour, put it around areas where birds feed, cats don;t get hurt as they are clever and know not to stand on it in first place

hmm this is my worry. the alternative is mesh all over top of garden my this will NOT be popular with my OH!

A short squirt of water works best on my cats. Not drenching them, but making them not enjoy beingin your garden

i have tried this but i dont want to have to stand outside waiting for them. it seems like a stand there for ages and then as soon as i go off and do something they appear!

i do consider myself to be a cat person, but now i have only bunnies. Seeing them run around and binky is wonderful and i dont want to have to deprive them of this but i just could not live with myself if they were hurt by a cat, or a fox i have to say but they are shut in at night and have never seen a fox in my area.

this is my garden, its a vid, dont have any pics sorry. to put into context....

Cute video:love:, I have to say I've always been a bit anti these assuming they would cause injury or something however, thinking about it, it must be incredibly irritating and stressful if the cats are persistently coming and threatening - another thing you might find works is willow panels, thats what I used at one point, my husband put screws into the fence bars that go horizontally and we hung them on so the top part (twigs) stuck up about 2ft from the top of the fence, I'd tried the water thing which I hated doing as that felt cruel and actually the cats knew I wouldn't hurt them and wanted to make friends with me/play so that was the easiest, also you could try fixing trellis and growing something prickly in my experience that works aswell.

Steph - broken glass is illegal I thought on the tops of fences/walls etc :?
