  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Recommendations Please - Rabbit Savvy Vet nr Haslemere in Surrey

The Duchess

Wise Old Thumper
Have a lady that has just been talking about adoption. She currently uses a vet and has had Myxo vaccs but was not aware of VHD and didn't know that her female should have been spayed (despite being in a bonded pair and being 2yrs plus).

So I would like to hear of any vets in the Haslemere area to see if she might find a good vet. The vets she uses now may be fine, but it would be interesting to see if anyone suggests them and if there are alternatives. She will go back to them to ask some questions and make a decision re getting her female spayed based on the answers.

Can you help?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I use Northdown Vets in Milford, who are quite good. I've not been with them that long (about 6 months), but so far they have been good. We've had vaccs, and stasis treatment (v good), plus snuffles treatment, which I'm still trying to work out if we're doing it the right way. But overall, I would recommend them.

Milford is about 20 mins from Haslemere, so not right on the doorstep, but not too far.

Hi I use petersfield veterianary centre s they work closely with John Chitty , they have one in Horndean and Liss both close to haslemere.

My vet is in Fareham - probably too far away? Although friends of ours travel there from Midhurst easily enough.

Isn't there a branch of Kynoch vets nearby? :?

No sadly not. We have spoken about it but I do think that it's always good to find one a bit closer if the carer can because in an emergency it's better to have one that you can get too without too much added stress for the rabbits. Kynochs closest clinic would be about 25 miles away.
