bonding - help?

Hi

Can anyone point me in the direction of any photos showing spaces used for bonding? I'm currently trying to bond my two female (neutered) rabbits, in a neutral space but I'm not sure if the space I have given them is too large, and whether or not I have too much stuff in there (I have a nero 4 cage base filled with hay, plus two litter trays, a tube and a couple of mats)? They've been together since 2ish, and it's been not too bad - some hair pulling, stamping, humping etc. Then they settled down with one cleaning the other at one point, but now one is in the nero cage base, and the other is out and they've been that way for a while. Do I just leave them be?

I'm doing a bond at the moment and I am using a pen inside my playhouse which is probably 3.5 x 3.5. I'd take the litter trays out as they might get possessive over them. Sounds promising with the grooming. I have used a 36 inch dog crate as well.

two of my buns were bonded just using my hallway and they just got on no problems and at that point thought woohoo this bonding stuff is easy....... then came the task of bonding my other two.

And thats were my nightmare in bonding began. Whether it was because they picked up on the other buns sent or whether they just didnt like each other i dont know. But in the end they were bonded by my vet who lives locally to me. She kept them at her house for a week and when i got them back they were a lovely pair .

So if you have some family member who would let you use there house/garden to bond then that is great as my two were nervous of there new surroundings so it encouraged them to take comfort in each other .

I used the space at our front door to bond my trio. I had a baby gate at the end into the living room so i could sit and watch them. The family were very understanding about having to use the back door for a few days!

The litter trays were not added until I was sure they were no longer chasing or mounting.

I use either a 4 x 2 ferplast indoor base with a puppy pen sides around it or I put down lino and then set up a puppy pen on it.

If I am bonding 2 or 3 pairs on a weekend I will also an indoor ferpast 140cm with the lid on keeping the lid open for easy access. Personally I do not recommend using dog crates as getting easy access to the buns can be tricky.
