Hi everyone,
You'd think, having had rabbits for over 20 years a moulting rabbit wouldn't bother me, but it does. The thing is it looks terrible, with baldish patches, and he looks so unloved! What I'm worried about is that it could be skin mites, and want some advice. The thing is, to take him to the vet will cost £25 (taxis), and that's without the vet's costs, and I'm really not going to be happy to pay that just to be told he's moulting!
As I said, there are bald patches, but the fur is growing back, and the skin doesn't look irritated. Also there are no scabs at all, which I remember was the case when one of my guinea pigs had mites years ago. He doesn't seem bothered, and is not spending his days grooming feverishly. I did try to groom him the other day, but the only thing that has much success is my bedroom carpet! Brushes, combs and my fingers release very little.
So....usual moult or something worse?
M
