  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Quick question re male neutering

I've got the Jasper beast booked in for neutering on Weds. He's buzzing and spraying like mad now and has been for the last 3 days so I think we somehow managed to take him in just as he hit puberty with a vengeance (lucky us lol).

Its been years since I had a young male bunny and I've forgotten how long it takes for them to settle down after neutering. How long will it generally take before he stops spraying? At the moment I daren't bend down as he keeps on decorating my face (and the furniture).

On another note tho - we have got him a girlfriend reserved so hopefully in a few weeks we will be able to bond him, and move him into his 10 x 6 bunny palace in the garden.

You will need to leave it 6 weeks before you begin a new bond, mainly because it can take this long for hormones to die down but also is his new wife isn't spayed yet then it will take this long for it to be 'complete'.

For my boys it was sort fo instant, one day they were humping, then on it was nothing :?

Hope he stops spraying you soon

yeah 6 weeks before bonding they could still be fertile up til then. shoudl start to calm down sooner though, bmaybe 2 weeks but depends on the bunny.
