Can you use shredded office paper safely under hay for bedding?

Is it absorbent once shredded? I have had an offer to bring me some, but I'm not sure if the ink on it- printer ink is dangerous in comparison with newspapers- anyone know?

Thanks x

The ink could be the problem but also if anyone has shreadded staples as these are extreamly sharp. I did try our sheredings only for my rabbits to just tuck in a start eating

I'm making the switch from wood pellet bedding to megazorb, and for the last 2 weeks I've been using shredded paper as well as the wood pellets in their litter tray so they get used to a slightly softer feel.

I've also used it before as part of a digging box.

Never had any problems with it. Mine don't tend to nibble it. I guess it depends where you use it and what your buns are like! if you take it and they have problems with it you can always throw it away I guess.

Hopefully the staples will be removed before they shred it or it might damage the machine  But yeah check through for those just incase

Oh okay- that sounds like alot of work sifting through office papers. Mind you if it means bedding down is practically free- no megazorb costs which is around £100+ per month - only hay which is around £48.00 a month. That makes things abit more cost effective.
