Introducing Pippin!! Our baby wildie

parsnipbun

Wise Old Thumper
This is little Pippin . . he weighs 115gms now! He was brought to our vets last Saturday when someone's cat brought him into their house. He was unharmed and when I heard about it I volunteered to take him.

He is being syringe fed by my OH and also having some feeds from Carnation Lily who just had our accidental babies . . . so it WAS fate that she had them and that he came to us!

Pippin's favourite trick at present is climbing the back of the sofa . . heading for the curtains . . I think he is going to grow up to be like Tamsin's Scamp:lol::lol::lol:

We are hoping very very much that all continues well and that he will wean ok when the time comes.

pippin is gorgeous :love::love::love:I wondered if your going to keep him. From my own experience a wildy needs lots of room and they cant stand to be caged. My wildy Baby will go in the big shed at night but if its to hot and I put them in the run he will dig out striaght away and go under the deck

Awwwwww, will he be released back into the Wild ?

He wont be released back as he was only about 9 days old when found and has thoroughly bonded with us and in particular my OH who feeds him; and I think release would be extremely difficult for him.

His rearing diet has been a mix of milk from our lactating doe (now giving out) and syringe fed baby cat milk, plus hay etc and he is starting to nibble at pellets . . but as you know full weaning can be a very tricky period for babies that are hand reared so he needs to be here until at least 8-10 weeks - by which time I feel release would be really impossible.

We also have no idea where he came from (he was brough to my vets) and the slightly 'wild' area behind us unfortunately now has a fox family living on it.

We already have a half wild bun here who is very happy with his mini harem etc, and our system of bun groups in large runs with added freedom time is probably as good as it could get.

As he gets older we will consider which group he will fit best in - though at present I suspect the group that has a half-wild already.

We are mixing him for a couple of hours each day with our other babies so he gets to socialise with buns early on.
