Florence ..a sad story ..

Florence was found roaming the streets in December . It was cold wet weather and Florence was soaked and she had a poorly eye .

A few days on treatment for her eye and a warm hutch to snuggle in and she was soon recovering .
Then we had a problem with an infection in some other rabbits . As Florence had just arrived we sent her to a foster home to prevent her catching it ...a few days later Florence gave birth to 6 babies . :shock:

She was a fantastic mum and at first the babies thrived .. but sadly at around 5 weeks old 2 of the babies developed problems and died .

Thankfully the others were ok ..

Florence was spayed and rehomed . She paired up well showing no aggression at all towards her new man ..

but then sadly something went wrong and they had a fight .

the result was that poor Florence had a tear in her side atound 6 cm long .
She also suffered a tear in her vulva . :shock:

We can only guess at what caused the fight but suspect the male tried to mate with her andf hurt her ..causing the fight .

Her new owner was scared to put them back together so Florence is now back with us and recovering well .

We hope to find another home for her soon ..either as a single housebun or with a very gentle calm male bunny .
We dont know if her bad experience will have spoiled her chances of bonding . :?
