  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Petplan insurance

How much do your bunnies cost to insure?
Jimby's has just gone up to £15.09 per month and Cookies is £12.75.
When I called and asked why the sudden jump in cost she said it is due to his age! He is only 2 and a half- 3 in July!!

Mine are all between £8.50 ish and £10.50 ish. They are different because of multipet discount and buy on line discount etc. Rudy is four though and he and Tink (3) are just short of £18 between then (joint policy).

I know it varies on what area you live in as well though.

Just had the renewal from petplan for Radish and it had gone up from £9 a month to £11.45 a month which I thought was a ridiculous increase as she isn't even 2 yet

I switched to Pets at home which is only £6.56 a month and I have insured Waffle with them as well although her stasis issues mean she has some exclusions.

about roughly somewhere abouts £10 each, but bet mabels will go up next year as ive had to make a claim already

Petplan have gone up a lot, my four in total (multi pet plan) comes to £51 per month!! I'm going to look around for a different company, it's a shame though as Pet Plan have always been extreamly good with paying out etc.
