  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Are frogs safe to be near rabbits?

Just had the shock of my life.....

Had a big cardboard box and thought Poppy may like to make a den out of it...so have taken it into her enclosure. As I took it in she ran into her burrow/dug out bit under her cage. I check on this burrow daily (as I dont mind her digging but obviously dont want her to make it too big and me not be able to get her out of it) so pulled back the cage to check and a frog was sat there:shock:

Dont mind frogs but it made me jump (and scream!!):oops: Is it safe to have Poppy in the same place as it? She doesnt seem at all bothered by it...I do know that frogs carry lungworm so will need to buy advocate to treat my dogs just to be safe. Are bunnies at risk too or can I leave it where it is??

I have a pond in my garden and my buns free range when I am out there working. I have lots of frogs in the pond and loads of tadpoles too at the moment. Once they turn into froglets they all hop all over the lawn. I never considered they may be a hazard to my buns:(

Something new to worry about. My cats sometimes bring a frog in but never eat them - I think they must taste disgusting!!
