  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does the size of the rabbit alter how much speying will cost? Because I was thinking bigger breeds will need more annestectic and pain relief than smaller breeds?

In my vet clinic I was told the cost to spey a female is 96.48euro but will this change depending on the size of the rabbit?

:wave:Hmmm Good question but not one I know the answer to.it's over 5 years since I had my gorgeous Dudley(he was a conti giant) neutered & I can't remember how his compared price wise.

 Thanks for answering anyhow.
I am nearly sure I'm getting a flemish giant, more than likely female if I do so was just wondering.

Yes I think at most vets it affects the price. It definitely did at the place I had Pipkin neutered.

It shouldn't do. The drugs are actually pretty cheap for such small amounts, most of the price is the staff and the equipment costs.

At my vets it does. If they are under 2 kilos (?) its cheaper than if they are over. Jasmine is being done on Tuesday and its costing about £85!!!! Jake was only about £60 - different operation I know but still!!
