Spayed Rabbit building a nest?

Hi Everyone,

The title says it all, I personally have never heard of a Rabbit Stripping it's fur and building a nest when it's Spayed. What I do know is generally 48hours before babies this does happen. I have been assured the rabbit is spayed, so my question is would a spayed rabbit build a nest for no apparent reason?

Thanks in advance.

I think there are a few things you need to ask yourself.

1) has your 'spayed' female been in contact with an intact (un-neutered) male within the last 35 days?

2) has your 'spayed' female been confirmed as spayed by a vet? (not always easy)

I have a spayed female who occasionally builds an awesome, but furless nest

I have had a pair of spayed rabbits make a beautiful nest, fur and all, so it is possible, but I think you need to presume that there may to be more than this than a spayed rabbit building a furry nest, because whilst possible, it is uncommon.

Flora's 8 and was spayed by the RSPCA at 6 months old. This week, she's built an enormous nest . I came home from work on Wednesday and every single scrap of hay had gone from 4 litter trays plus all the hay that had been put out for them to eat. She'd had a lovely time but Parsnip was looking a bit put out that he had to lay on bare megazorb .
