Vibes for Billy Please? UD - No More Injecting!

Captain Helen

Wise Old Thumper
Can we have some vibes for Billy please?

He's going for a dental tomorrow. He has three abscesses and is drooling like crazy. I have no idea how he's managing to eat normally.

He has a recurring tear duct infection and is back on the Septrin. He's lost a lot of weight and the sparkle has gone from his eyes.

He's letting me pick him up without a fight. That's not my Billy.

I know he has to have the dental, but I'm worried he's not strong enough to get through the anaesthetic. I'm very, very worried.

Thank you everyone.

If that wasn't bad enough, my rabbit vet is on holiday this week. But it can't wait. She has advised me not to wait.

I remember when I once advised someone on here to do exactly what I'm doing. It did not end well.

Was it your vet or another that said not to wait ?

Don't worry yourself, I am sure they have discussed it together.

The rabbit vet said not to wait. She booked the appointment for tomorrow with the other vet. She has full confidence in him, he's done rabbit dentals before, but he's not a specialist.

I'm not sure if they're going to attempt another tear duct flush while he's under. I don't know if keeping him under longer will increase the risk?

Might be better to wait until he's recovered from this, then do a conscious tear duct flush.

You can always discuss all your fears with him tomorrow.

Not easy trying to not worry.

I've dropped Billy off. :(

I discussed my worries with the nurse, but I'll leave the decision on whether or not to do the tear duct flush up them.

It's one of the senior vets doing the dental. I'm sure he's done dentals for my buns in the last, before the rabbit specialist started.

Now the waiting...

The vet just called! Scared the life out of me! They don't usually call unless there's a problem.

It's OK, he's just coming round now. :) The vet was just calling to tell me what he'd found.

Billy's jaw is slightly misshapen on one side. This was causing a molar to grow into his cheek. :( I don't know what this lump in his jaw is though.

They did the tear duct flush and they've started him on penicillin injections. I'll need to take him in tomorrow for another (and maybe to be shown how to give them at home) so I'll be able to talk to the vet in more detail about his jaw problem then.

I'm just so relieved that he's come round from the anaesthetic! :D
