Keeping cool

Bunni_xx

Mama Doe
^^ as above. About 7ft of their run is in shade, they have a bowl and 3 bottles. Is there anything else? Sorry if this has been posted before, my search is broken :oops:

Frozen bottles of water.

Insulate the hutch / wendy / shed which will reduce the penetration of the heat

Wet Towels on top of the run when its very hot
marble/cool tile to lay down on
Dirt box, mine love to lay in the cold soil
Avoid plastic tunnels and hideys they can trap heat, i give mine material or wood things in summer

I also use tiles. I use ceramic as they were cheaper.
Mine also have the luxury of their own fan, which they love!

When my old Guinea Pig was suffering in the heat, I found bathing her helped her to cool down.

Obviously you can't bath a rabbit but a cool flannel wiped over their ears, if they don't mind, is also a good way, as I believe this is where they lose excess body heat anyway.

I had to do this with Feegal last year as he was looking really uncomfortable. Thankfully he didn't mind it.

If they don't like it then I wouldn't do it as the stress would make them over heat anyway.
