Inspiration and ideas need pretty please. Flowers and plants

Sky-O

Wise Old Thumper
On all the graves of 'this generation' of bunnies we have a rose plant in a colour that is appropriate to the bunny.

Flash- Rich red for how important and loved he was
Moon- Crisp white for the white on her
Tubby- peach and white (was called something to do with old) because he was nearly 12
Boof- white with pink edges because she was a REW
Cloud- Pink because he was a REW
Rosie- Rosey pinky red, for obvious reasons
Summer- the biggest, brightest yellow for her personality
Tilly- yellow with orange edges because she was bright and alive and similar to Summer, but not the same.

Now, for Badger I need something. If I could choose anything, it would be a rose with massive roses and all of them being different colours, bright colours. Obviously that doesn't exist. I can't find something that suits him.

It needs to be one of the smaller roses (almost like a miniature rose, but I know thats not a technical name) if its a rose. It needs to be bright and colourful. It doesn't technically have to be a rose, but it has to be all one plant because its about showing he was all these amazing things all in one. Even better, something that flowers and is bright all year round (but I think that's pushing it).

I'm looking online at specialist rose nurseries, but does anyone have any ideas? Even if they are not roses?

He deserves something perfect, but I can't find it.

Sorry I don't know my flowers but just wanted to say that's a lovely idea and I'm sure whatever you choose he will think it's perfect xxx

What a lovely idea.

Sorry I'm not much help with rose names - there are just so many!

Hope you get just the right thing for him x

I will look into it for you Tracy and ask around at work.

Might take a few days - just wanted to let you know I'm on it.

PS Where's it going to be planted - is it sunny or shady, damp or dry, etc

Its....... clay soil. It gets the sun really early in the morning until about mid afternoon, and then its shady.

The soil is not great because its recovering from having whacking great big conifers removed from it last November. The roses we have there currently are thriving and a lot happier since they have gone.

Euonymus - this shrub always makes me smile because the pink/orange fruit looks so cheerful, but so utterly weird.

There are some nice Abutilons, a google search shows all the different colours they come in. Is it essential that it's one individual plant? Because I saw this, and thought - how awesome.

Tree peonies are lovely - the one we have at work starts shooting very early and has fascinating multicoloured leaves - sort of blue and green and red and purple (but in a subtle way - not as loud as that sounds!) then enormous pink flowers. Here are some, and here. There are herbaceous peonies too, this one looks fun.

Here's a nice two-coloured rose - Rosa gallica 'Versicolor'. I liked this one too, it's so vibrant.

Or....many flowers have meanings attached to them dating from a fashion for "the language of flowers" during victorian times....maybe you could find a plant whose traditional meaning is relevant to Badger's life. Clicky.

Anyway that was a bit of a ramble  I will keep thinking about it, and see if any of my colleagues have ideas....I feel like there must be something with more "wow" factor.

Thank you very much :) Like, very much.

I do feel it has to be one plant for what it symbolises to me. If it was more than one, I would feel like he was in pieces, or something.

I'm loving seeing the different options. Nothing has yet jumped out at me as perfect, but some of these suggestions are getting very close.

oooohhhhh......i'll have a look. our interweb is chugging like a dawg tonight but i need to go to the garden centre tomorrow so i'll see if anything jumps out at me.

Ah that makes sense. just wanted to suggest it, just in case!

I'm sure you'll know it when you find it :) Also, I meant to say before that having a memorial rose garden for your buns is a lovely idea.

Well my original idea was pansies. Lots of different coloured pansies. The way I see it though is that he has such a great influence on your life that it's spread to many plants. And you could have only one of a certain colour, that is his pansy. And they're bunny edible too. :)

I was going to suggest the Strawberries and cream or the oranges and lemons, which is the one I've got, they are beautiful :D
