Edinburgh Zoo *penguin heavy*

Wise Old Thumper
Well, I was disappointed with the zoo. I loved the penguins, but most of the rest of it wasn't good. All of the enclosures were small, and the big cat enclosures were in a league of their own. All the cats were pacing at some point while we were there, and the Amur Leopards were doing it everytime I saw them. There's 35 in the wild, and 2 of them are stuck pacing behind glass :gaah: Apparently they are being moved to the Highland Wildlife Park (where Kylie and I went last year) once an enclosure is built, which is much better, as they have so much more space there.

Anyway, onto pics. None of them are that good, the light was pants and I was still a bit bummed.

The African Wild Dogs...they also paced pretty much the whole time we were there. Both are female.

Now my favourite part...there's a LOT of them...stupid kid in the video...although the penguins did seem to like the movement.

Lovely photos, especially the penguins you got some great snaps. I too get upset when I see animals in enclosures so I won't go to a zoo. I understand we need to use them to protect some species but I prefer safari parks where they have much more freedom.

I posted a similar thread when I went and felt the same about the enclosures. Cologne zoo which I visite din 2004 was much better in terms of animal welfare. Great pics though :D
