  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lola - Need advice please

Lola has peed 3 times in various places that she doesn't normally, almost as if she cannot control herself and has accidentally peed (she normally only ever pees in her litter tray. I checked her over and she is wet around her lady bits but clean other than that, there also appears to be a swelling to the right of her bits, not huge just slightly raised. Any help would be appreciated, She is eating and drinking as normal.

My advise would be to get her to the vets asap, it sounds like she may have an infection. :(
The swelling you mention, are you able to have a good look and seperate the fur, does it look like an absess?

Going vets first thing tomorrow, Spoke to emergency vet and she advised as she is eating, pooing and hopping around she wouldnt need emergency vet but if she deteriorates we will rush her round. Thanks for response.

hope she'll be ok.

eric started leaving little bits of wee all over the place once. i figured he was in pain or discomfort of some kind so whisked him off to the vets. glad i did - he had an emergency dental.

xx

But bring her to your vet
Hope it helps

Whisk to the vets for a checkup, possibly a UTI or other infection perhaps? The lump would worry me slightly, but im sure a vet could check that for you

how did your Lola get on? my Lola has just done a huge pee where she doesn't normally and came on here to see if i can get more info and spotted this thread!

Sorry no update, Went to vet on Monday, he said swelling could be a sprain / minor hernia - nothing to worry about, gave Baytril for any pee pee infection and said she was fine as she is eating / pooing and hopping around. He had a good feel of her tummy and bits  and weighed her (4k) and listened to her heart and checked her teeth and ears, And overall said she was in great condition.:D

Matilda has the exact same! its like shes leaking all the time! the vet thought it was incontinance through giving birth! she still have it now tho marcybol(sp) cleared it up abit!

Lola's stopped peeing everywhere now, think it was a phase ( she has a crush on the vet!!) or maybe the baytril has worked :lol:
