Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Nautered!

Young Bun
Hi was wondering how much it is to get a rabbit nautered? I have 2 ten week old boys was wondering if I should get them done or just leave them as they are? Thank you.

It varies from vet to vet. I think in my area it's about £50-£60 each.
I'd definitely get them neutered as they can get aggressive when they hit sexual maturity. I'm not sure of the neutering age for bucks, but I know the recommended age for does is from 6 months.
I'm going to book my two girls in this week.

Its preferably to get them done as young as possible, but yes, it does vary vet to vet. If you leave them 'intact' then you need to separate them now to prevent fighting and they will be destined to lives alone. If you want them to have company then they need to be neutered.

It also makes a difference with hormonal behaviours (which you may or may not be seeing yet) and also eradicates the risk of testicular cancer.

I've had some done at 10, 11, 12 weeks. If their bits have dropped and the vet deems them fit enough then they can be neutered :)

Good luck!

Thank you I shall need it haha poor wee things they are brothers and still ok together so far thank god, will phone vet today :)
