  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Signs of teeth needing trimming/dental problems?

Drooling, weightloss, picking up food and dropping it, selective feeding, coming for food and not eating it, depression, lethargy, no poos, diarrhoea, runny eyes or nose. There's so many. Even just acting differently from normal.

Why? Your buns ok?

Refusing to eat hard foods. Eating less hay. Runny eye. Smaller, darker and harder poos. These are the symptoms I know off, but they can have other causes.

Thankyou. Was a bit concerned about Gordon earlier, although he was eating hay as usual he came for a crunchie but just shoved at it but didn't take it. He then wouldn't eat a dandelion leaf, he pushed it away with his paws. I was getting more worried but then Beano finished hers and was after his so he gobbled them both up! He can sometimes be a bit funny with his veg, he will eat it but doesn't go for it as excited as usual sometimes or won't eat it for a bit, but I think he only does this if it is really wet or not his fav things. He eats hay, pellets, crunchies, grass etc well, poo's well, acts fine and had his back teeth checked at the end of February and when I can see his front teeth they look fine so I don't think there's a problem but just thought it would be useful to know.
