Rabbit shaving specialist in south yorkshire?

Hi
Can any recommended a Rabbit specialist who can shave my angora/lionhead?
I feel so awful :(, I brush him every week and hes always been fine, because of the bad winter iv not done it as much and I thought he was just putting weight on and getting fat but when iv taken him out of his cage to start brushing him, hes actually REALLY knotty but its hidden under the new fur and you cant tell till you actually start feeling them, its 1 gigantic knot all over him.
Iv been taking bits by bits off but its taking forever and I dont want to stress him.
I can remember my sister taking hers to Arncliffe vets to be shaved and OMG she came back a right mess, obviously they'd used an ordinary shaver and tore her skin all over, even resulting in stitches.. and to top it off, they even CHOPPED her tail off!! they 'thought' it was a knot... and sewed it back on.. then tried charging her £60-£70 the cheek! :censored:
wanting someone who knows what their doing and deals with this, hes nearly 6 so not sure if he can still be sedated?

Your sisters poor bunny

What about asking a vet to do it? Abbey Vets in Sheffield /Barnsley are very good with rabbits and a reasonably priced too.

Hi I take Jack to a groomers in Dinnington - is that too far for you?

Its only half an hour away, do they deal with knots? Its just that their really close to his skin which is making him look fat so I thought he may have to be sedated I just dont want his skin being torn :( x

my rabbits aren't fancy like lionheads but they are pretty hairy. i invested in hairdressing scissors for cutting the hair around their bums to help them keep clean - perhaps this would work for you. if you do it slowly and carefully, surely that would be better than a vet hacking at it?

:lol: when i say 'you'... of course i mean your bunny...

Iv got the hair dressing scissors, matt seperaters, matt rakes, you name it iv got it/tried it
Iv got most of it off his back, its just round the sides, it literally looks like rolls of fat but its matty and because of them being so thick, hes finding it hard to keep his bottom clean so im also doing that for him too, I just wish I'd have kept up with his brushing during the winter, I feel so ashamed

x

Don't feel ashamed, these things can happen and what's important is that you're dealing with it now and realise how important it is to keep up over the winter

I had to cut a lot of fur from Eli's feet recently because I just hadn't realised it was matted, I didn't even know it was a potential problem! We all make mistakes.

Personally I would try getting someone else to hold him while you cut using the scissors close to his skin. I would imagine even though the shaving itself would be quicker it would be less stressful to slowly cut it off at home, even if it takes a few sessions.

Sorry I couldn't be any more helpful!

Update

UPDATE-
Well Iv just spent nearly 2 hours snipping away and im actually pleased with the results..
Iv managed to tackle under his chin, his back legs and bottom. Will leave him now untill tomorrow or saturday and then ill tackle his back as there is only a few matts now. Left the easiest till last :)
I WILL have my beautiful bunny back to his former glory :D

Hi sorry for late reply - haven't been around much. Yes - Jack was in a terrible state when I found him, and she dealt with his coat without sedating him. If you want the number for the future, please pm me and I'll send it you
