Gremlins new cage

Gremlin, one of my hamsters, got a new cage on Thursday I bought it secondhand from Paws Here shelter where I volunteer, it's a Savic Freddy 2 rat cage Here are some pictures, I tried to have a theme of sweet treats but it's not very obvious :lol: I'm on the waiting list for a handmade cupcake shaped bed though

Spot the Gremlin

The shelf with decorated wheel, smarties tube with treats inside and climbing wall! The back of the wheel was actually an old glasses cloth :lol: He'll be getting a bigger wheel whenever I can afford it!

That looks great. I love Freddy 2's for hams when kitted out properly like yours. I had a ham once who lived in one but was free range most of the time as she was just too active for the cage!

One improvement I would suggest though is a bigger wheel. Syrians need a wheel that is at least 8 inches for example http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=446&pf_id=52720

Gremlin gets to free range for at least an hour everyday because he gets bored incredibly easily :roll::lol:

The cheapest I could find a WW is £16 because Pet planet are out of stock

Ah, didn't see that bit. Everywhere seems to be out of stock at the moment. You could try one of these http://www.equinecaninefeline.com/c...or-rodent-wheel-degu-hamster-28cm-p-4195.html . It's the one I have in my Freddy 2 :wave:

Oo yeah I forgot about the WW copy :lol: There was a cheap site that sold them for £5.50 but then they stopped stocking small animal stuff I think i'll try order one in from the shelter on Thursday

We've got a WW on the way from the US for Cooper; I think it was around £14 so not much more than ECF, probably cheaper if that's the only thing you're ordering and would have to pay postage. (And you get to pick colours )

I use a Freddy cage for one of my Syrian hammies - she loves it!

Can show you pics of my set up if you want. Agree about the wheel - in that pic you can see that the wheel isn't big enough for her. My hammies have the Wodent Wheel Senior, not Junior as there's plenty of space in their cages for it and Buttons' is a big girly lol.

It's a shame Wodent Wheels are getting so hard to get over here now. The ECF copy is ok though and a good size.
