Awww :love: I'd love 2 sugar gliders. I plan on getting them someday, I've researched loads on them the past several years :D

Is he very much trouble? I know people say feeding them is hard and expensive since they need homemade mixes but it doesn't seem hard/expensive to me.. I grow fruit and would grow a larger variety if I were to get them, plus I make homemade mixes for my birds, so maybe thats why... :?

I've wanted sugar gliders for so long! But their diet is so specialist and if you get it wrong the consequences are so bad, that and the fact they need company and HUGE cages puts me off. And apparently before they are bonded to you they can be little devils, and I dont fancy getting on the wrong side of a creature made for gouging bark :shock:

Ahhh I can dream :love: I love the fact that apparently once bonded properly to you if something scares them they will run to you :love:

Yes, thats what I always hear! Being the owner of many parrots (most that I had to tame and can bite HARD) with flight cages and everything, I know I can handle sugar gliders. Not right now though, I don't have the time at the moment, but someday :D

Yeah, I dont envy you if you get a grumpy one though, when I was researching them I stalked a glider forum for a while and they were often called 'fluffy cobras' :shock: I think if I do ever get one I will rescue one that is already partly tamed, although I hear they dont have such a strong bond to you if they have bonded to another human before.

Yeah, thats what I plan on doing, rescuing 2 (already bonded) tame guys. There is an amazing breeder I had considered buying from (SunCoast Sugar Gliders) but I think I'd rather adopt instead. Theres always lots of sugar gliders on craigslist looking for homes so I would feel much better giving a homeless pair a home.

Gorgeous animal! :love::love::love::love:
It must be difficult to find a sugar glider savvy vet, though.

Depends on your area. Theres several exotic vets in my area and gliders are common pets (here at least, I've no idea about other countries) so it shouldn't be too hard to find a vet I trust with future gliders.

our one is extremly tame we got him from a person who bought it for child and she could keep up with his needs, he has a very large cage with lots of toys he has never been in with other gliders since being homed as a baby, so we going to have to bond him slowly so its not such a shock for him,
we used to unusal diets as we have other small mammals and exotics accacia rats, lemmings , degu frogs etc but to be fair its not to hard to feed him, he was on wrong food when we got him but he is ok now :love:
