Thirty Five Thousand Pounds . . . .

parsnipbun

Wise Old Thumper
Thats apparently what we have spent at the vets on rabbits over the last 10 years:shock::shock::shock::shock:

Was paying my second bill of the day this afternoon  - £120 (having already paid £180 this morning) and the receptionist and I were chatting about how much buns cost to kep, and she said did I want to know how much we had spent there over the years . . . as its on their computer screens!

And when she looked she gasped and said Thirty Five Thousand!!!

If you add in fees at the different emergency vets, and fees for Parsleys leg at the specialist osteo vet and then the CT scans recently . . . Its more like forty thousand pounds . .

If you add in pet insurance, food, accommodation (we have changed the runs several times), constantly re-turfing the lawn, replacing endless electric wires etc etc than I suspect it easily tops fifty thousand . .

OH was with me when the vet receptionist told us and when we got out to the car park he said 'You know . . thats not as bad as I thought it would be . . . ' Bless Him!!!!!:love::love::love:

Trouble is that now we have over 20 buns whereas we used to have a lot less - so presume it will go up - but at least they are now all insured!;)

Thats over $50,000  Do you take in special needs buns? I cant imagine that much in vet bills.

That's only 3,500 a year - not bad at all considering you have so many buns :) Sorrel alone once cost me over £400 in about 6 weeks

That really shocks me to be honest. I hardly ever have to take my animals to the vet, and I have 19 (dogs, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs).

I just buy vaccinations, spot ons, worming tablets, etc. myself and give them to them, and then there's neutering of course.

But besides that I rarely have to take an animal to the vet. In the past 5 years, one dog had a tumour removed, a cat had a dental, a cat got antibiotics for cat flu, a cat had an infection so had one shot of antibiotics, 3 guinea pigs were treated for mites . . . and that's all. So that was maybe about €200 altogether in vet bills for those things . . . thank God my pets are healthy and my vet doesn't charge much

That doesn't surprise me with 20 buns you would have that kind of bill.

Unfortunately with all the dental buns i have and other buns with problems i spend easily £300.00 a month min.

Then with food, bedding etc on top that would work out at £600 min month then about £7200 over a year and then £72,000 over 10 years.

I don't normally like to think about these things :) I guess it's about the same as owning one horse full livery.
