Hi all

Sorry to be a pain and ask another question that you have all propbably answered a hundred times before!

Buster is being neutered on thursday and im a bit nervous, is there anything is should be aware of afterwards? Is it ok for him to jump in and out of his cage or should i limit this because of his stiches? Will his stiches be ok and will he try to nibble them out? Also will the sawdust irritate his wound and should i change his bedding whilst it heals, any other info would be great!

Thanks

:)

Hi there! when I had my two neutered vet said no wood chippings and to put a towel down underneath their bedding. They had towel and then newspaper, she said hay was ok as long as it wasn't too rough. I kept them in the bedroom part of their hutch until they went back for their check up which was a day or so after their op, so then they couldn't do any damage. But after that vet said to let them out as the wound had healed really well. My two bounced back very quickly. I think boys heal quicker than girls as it is not such an invasive op. Good luck! Hope all goes well.

bucks tend to get over it quicker. I would advise he goes in his cage for at least 6 or so hours, give or take, to get over the GA - he will come home rather quiet and groggy. He should have pain killer BEFORE he leaves the vet and he should be eating before he leaves.

Avoid woodshavings anyway, base him on just newspaper if you can and a big pile of hay wherever, just so he can get at it if needs be.

He wont like you for a few days, but he'll get over it!

Hehe thanks guys, i can imagine he will have the hump with me for a few days! Just want to make sure he's comfortable so going to pick up a few bits later just making sure theres nothing else i need to add to my list!

Buster had his op yesterday and all went well. As i expected he didnt move around much last night so i put a bowl of hay and water by his bed under the dining room table for him. He is fine this morning pooing normally and eating and drinking lots however i have one small concern... his wee was a thick creamy yellow this morning. He normally wee's in his littler tray however this morning he wee'd whilst he was eating and i can only describe it as puss looking, it want clear/see through, should i be concerned?
