Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Akpo - vibes needed

Hi everyone

When we got up this morning Akpo wasn't eating again :( We gave her some gut stimulant and metacam (before anyone judges me for medicating without taking her to the vet she had the exact same symptoms as last time and I just wanted to help her). Anyway she's eating fine now and has been pooping but I can't understand what could be wrong. Her teeth look fine to me, but obviously I can't examine them as fully as a vet could do. How long do dentals normally last for? She had one in December so I'd hope her teeth are still ok :?

We're taking her to the vet later today but in the meantime please send vibes for my bunny that there's nothing wrong :( and it was just wind or something.

Depends on the dental condition unfortunately. Some buns need dentals every couple of weeks, some every few months, some even longer.

Loads of vibes for Akpo!

Thanks :) she's tucking into her hay as I type this, hopefully she'll continue. I want my cheeky little bunny back to full health.

Just to update, Akpo is still eating fine, vet said her teeth are ok at the moment. She said she can feel something in her stomach area, but they wouldn't be able to find out what it is without surgery, and if they do the surgery they may not be able to fix whatever it is and also it's only 50/50 that she'd make it through surgery :(

So fingers crossed that she keeps nomming and bouncing around and being a happy bun. I'm reluctant to opt for surgery when she seems fine at the moment, especially when the chances of her benefitting aren't great.
