Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

sorry not good photo cant really see but the darker colour wee has blood in it any ideas what can be causing it. should i start panicking or will he be ok till the morning he i 1 1/2 year old neutered male he is happy in him self eating and drinking don't know if yous need to know but please help

Have you fed him carrot, dandelion leaves or kale today ?

Rabbit wee can be dark browny orange due to pigments in plants/veg eaten.

You could ring the vets and see what they think? Ringing them is free, and they'll be able to tell you whether it can wait till morning or not.

I have a bunny here who has just been diagnosed with a calcium issue. Her wee looked reddened and when tested the blood in it was off the scale and so too was her calcium.

She hasn't had a high calcium diet (broccoli/greens/parsley/savoy/spinach etc) while with us but she's 8 1/2 and we've only had her a year and a half.

We are now treating for a stone in her bladder and subject to confirmation by xray or scan this week she may need surgery. So whilst red wee can be due to the foods that bunnies eat, please bare in mind that it may be something more serious that needs investigation.

The blood in Tululah's case is due to the stone grating on the tissues inside her bladder and she is in serious pain that is being treated by pain meds, Cystaid and antibiotics to keep her more comfortable until the decision re an operation is made.

If you are at all concerned, I would urge you get get your bunnies urine tested.

It is more than likely going to be to do with something that your bun has eaten. I hope so.

Also your litter looks like a pink cat litter (?) so it may look worse than it realy is.

Fingers crossed for you.
