  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Unexplained blood?

Wise Old Thumper
Apache just came home looking like this:

Does that look like blood? It's very orangey so I was wondering if it could just be wee...have checked him and Skye thoroughly and can't find any injuries. They're both nomming and frolicking as normal. :? *panic*

Maybe it is wee then? It does look more orangey than red from the photo. How odd. Trying to think what else it could be...

I would go for one spraying the other with urine. Blood would be far pinker or more red than this.

Thanks guys, that does make more sense now I think about it.

I will keep checking on him just in case.

Thanks for calming me down, I was on the verge of a full blown wheezing spluttering panic :oops:

i think its wee... Alvin pee'd on pearl when they first met.. she had a pee stain on her face for weeks

How romantic

I think I was influenced by the fact that there was a bit of loose fur around - there are other rabbits kept nearby and I thought maybe there'd been a bit of referred aggression. He does seem fine though.
