We use Megazorb - absorbs well and less messy than wood shavings.:)

that's pricey! I pay 6.95 for 85L of megazorb, lasts about a month for my pair's 2 litter trays.

Megazorb here.

I found wood pellets more stinky and they gave him wet feet, although they seem to be more absorbant.

I know!....but I can't find anywhere that sells it near me, I did try Carefresh but wasn't keen on it.
It does last about 3weeks...only need a thin layer

I haven't noticed wet feet with my buns..I do layer it thick with hay and there's usually a thin layer in bottom left..fresh hay daily.
The care fresh seemed to mix in with the hay and I was bothered about them eating it...I assumed Megazorb was similar to Carefresh?

Lops - Megazorb and thick layer of hay
Lionheads - Newspaper and thick layer of hay

Nutmeg digs in megazorb, well she digs with paper too but least that doesn't mix into the hay, and the lops pee too much for newspaper!!

I thought it was recommended not to use woodshavings(?)

ive never had a problem and theres no evidence to suggest that woodshaving (pets at home) cause any problems

It's not because they are dusty and release phenols. Some people choose to ignore this though. I personally can't stand shavings because they get everywhere and stink to high heaven when peed on.

I much prefer using nespaper with a thick layer of hay on top as I buy my hay in bales so it's pretty cheap.

ETA: I'm sure someone posted a really good article about shavings a little while back and someone who runs a rescue commented that when they had PM's done on some of the buns that died there that had been kept on shavings their lungs with thick with dust.

Shavings cause problems too, not just sawdust. Shavings release phenols which irritate rabbits' delicate respiratory systems. Certain woods cause it and these are the woods that tend to be used for shavings. Aspen doesn't I believe.

I get mine from a horse suppliers, where I also get my hay from. THE do it online but carriage is a fiver. GrahamL has a link to somewhere he gets it that's quite cheap.
