  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Joined up poops...

Wise Old Thumper
Any excuse to ring Ian perhaps, but BB has done 4 joined up poops.
Yes, hes moulting and Im helping him along with plucking and grooming, but am I right in thinking to give a little pineapple juice too??
Anything else to do??

Personally I dont give Pineapple Juice as IMO the sugar it contains is more likely to cause a problem. If you do opt to give it then it must be 100% fresh, not from a carton or tin as any processing of the Pineapple destroys the enzyme (Bromelain) which allegedly helps to break down furballs.

Maximising fluid/hay intake, daily grooming and lots of exercise are, IMO, the best methods to prevent any problems with ingestion of fur xx

Everything Jane says, but its actually excellent that they are coming out :) It means the gut is working exactly as its meant to.

A few more and Yvette could make herself a necklace :thumb:

Thumper's record is 11 poops strung together, but it's usually 4 or less. We do everything Jane suggested - I agree with her about the pineapple - just keep the gut healthy & everything will line up center gut, come out, & as Graham says better out than in.

Oh cool, thanks guys.I like to check stuff and make sure I dont get ongoing problems.Or cause any either!!

I was hoping for photos on this thread. :p

I was thinking of making a reference library of abnormal bunny poops from Thumper. He's done most of them except classical megacolon poops!
Now I wonder if it would be a source of insporation for the craft people on here.
