Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is it normal to have a lumpy bit under the ribcage?

Wise Old Thumper
Just noticed on Muesli there is a hard lump on his right hand side just where his rib cage finishes and above his tummy. Trying not to panic, I then felt the same area in Starbuck and he has it as well :? but smaller.

What is it? Anyone know? I presume this is something normal otherwise they wouldnt both have it in all likelihood.

Hope someone can enlighten me (also hope I am not going mad and imagining it!:oops:)

I agree with Jane. However, the times I've most noticed this is when a bunny is experiencing gut slowdown. So I would carefully monitor his output and input.

Ok thank you, we will keep an eye out. Muesli does get the odd excess cecal and misshaped poo - I guess this could be down to his kidney problems. Will continue to monitor, thanks for that.

(feel very silly that its their stomachs!!)

No I dont think so, it was just on the right hand side. Am going out now but will double-check again later. What would this mean?

I jyst thought it might be the last rib. I've scared myself several times thinking my buns had tumors, but it was just their ribs!:lol:
