Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Phantom Pregnancy

Hey Guys

A little worried and unsure what to do but i suspect our rabbit Rosie is experiancing her first phantom pregnancy. From what i gather this is a normal thing for a famle to experiance at this time of year however i am still confused by the whole thing.

First of all should we encourage the nesting behaviour and how can you judge when is a good time to remove the nest without making her upset?

Also Rosie has a "friend" in the form of a teddy could this be encouraging her fantasy of pregnancy?

Any advice is greatful.

Have you thought about getting her speyed?? It will stop all this happening and lessen her chances of getting Cancer.
How old is she?? My guess?? 4 or more months.

Getting her spayed would be a good idea :)

I'd leave the nest until she stops exhibiting nesting behaviour.

Do you have any other Rabbits ? The presence and behaviour of other Rabbits, especially an entire Buck, will stimulate ovulation which can then lead to pseudopregnancy. The soft toy is far less likely to do so, although with Rabbits it seems that nothing is impossible !!
