  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have just been grooming Tiki and when I touch her mouth my hand is coming away wet, not soaked but definitely wet. She was making little clicking noises occasionallly while I was grooming her although she stopped when I turned her over to look at her mouth.

She had her teeth checked on the 18th of february and she's a good hay eater with no history of dental problems, she's been reluctant to take food from us since Duke passed but she is definitely eating and she's not off her food or being picky. Is there something wrong with her teeth? Is there any other cause for drooling? Is this actually drooling? Does she need to see a vet today?

It is possible that spurrs have grown since her last checkup. However, if she is still eating and pooping she will be fine to wait until the Vet is open again tomorrow.

Daft question but does she have a bowl or bottle of water? I have panicked a few times and its bevause my silly rabbits dip their whole face in the bowl and get vey wet!

I hope she is ok. xx

Some rabbits do grind their teeth when groomed in a 'that feels nice' way. Which could have been the noise.

Drooling is a symptom of teeth issues so worth getting checked out, particularly if it's still wet tomorrow.

I agree though, if that's the only symptom, I would wait and see usual vet rather than an emergency app today.
