Safe wood besides what's usually recommended?

We don't have any apple, pear, or willow trees (neighbor does have a small weeping willow, its a very slow grower though, so no twigs) around here, though I might try asking on craigslist or free cycle if anyone has any I could have branches from. I don't think I've ever seen any apple or pear trees here though :?

I have loads of trees in my yard, but I don't think any are safe for rabbits :? Are there any types of maple that are safe? River birch, sweet gum, crape myrtle, loquat, any oak species, cypress, citrus species, magnolia, palm, elderberry...? Any others? I know probably none of those are safe, but I thought I'd ask.

You're probably better asking on a US forum or maybe try the the House Rabbit Society ?

Hazel is another common tree over here but I don't know what you'd have available.

I only know not elderberry. I remember elderberry leaves are bad for rabbits so assume that goes for everything to do with the elderberry tree. My neighbours had one in the last place we had and it over hang our garden so was always cleaning the debris away.

Are there any US rabbit forums that are active? I know about rabbitsonline but its not really active and I can't remember my username/pass anyway. I figured someone here might have a list or something.

This is all the House Rabbit Society site says "Untreated wood, twigs and logs that have been aged for at least 3 months. Apple tree branches can be eaten fresh off the tree. Stay away from: cherry, peach, apricot, plum and redwood, which are all poisonous."

I've seen hazel trees before but I'm not sure where, besides at schools I used to go to. I'll have to keep an eye out for them though, thanks.

Yeah, I figured elderberries weren't safe. Thats a shame, they grow wild in my yard.
