  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

3 Cheers for the Cat and Rabbit Care clinic in Northampton

Young Bun
Been a while since I posted.

This past year we've gone through a pretty rough time with our buns. First Alice comes down with EC and the local brand name store vet said there was nothing to do and the only option was to put her down.

So we took her to see Simon and co at the Cat and rabbit care clinic in Northampton (a good 40 minutes away) and since then wouldnt go anywhere else.

He also suspected EC but had had good results with Penecillin so we followed his diagnosis and a few weeks later have a very happy rabbit.

As well as Alice getting EC Ellie developed an abcess behind his eye. Again the diganosis is normally removal but Simon's treatment worked, he then developed an abcesess on his nose and... again Simon treated him in surgery.

Now, a few months later both are back to their normal self. Ellie's abcess not only went away but the eye went back to normal and Ellie has full use of his eye. We had to take them in this week after a full on fight left Alice with a nasty tear requiring stitches and Ellie a broken foot.

The best thing is they know rabbits. They know what they are doing and know about every possible treatment going. They fill you with confidence that they can and will do everything they can to help. I just got a nice phonecall this morning to find out if Alice is OK even though we picked her up yesterday and shes in again tomorrow for a checkup.

Its this confidence which means we wouldnt go anywhere else.

I'd also like to add that Ellie is a good 7 years old now and we started him on the Excel Mature feed and he's like a young kid again. Seems to be like bunny redbull.

Simon and Kim are FAN-TAS-TIC!!!!! Wouldn't go anywhere else :D. Simon's even doing surgery etc whilst he has a broken leg !
