Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bringing my rabbit into my house?

New Kit
Hi, i brought my rabbit 6months ago and he has lived outside through the winter but now i want to bring him in the house to live with us, but im just worried he will get too hot? i have just brought him in and his running around the house but now he is lying on the floor, am i best to do it slowly and just bring him in a few times a day for him to get used to it?

Thanks Becky

I think that once he is in, leave him in as its the change in temperature that causes the problems so to constantly keep changing it wouldn't be the best idea.

Can you keep the heating off for a while to help him?

I have done this before and find that after a week or so things settle down although they do tend to drink more water and sometimes start to moult as well.

I bought one of my outdoors in a week ago. When I am not at home or am hoovering etc she stays in my dowstairs bathroom (which is a good size) with loads of toys etc, but the radiator is turned off in there so it stays cool for her and if she gets too hot running around she knows she has somewhere cool to chill out :)
