I use rag rugs or similar type of rug.

I've heard of people using carpet, but you'd have to make sure it hasn't got a coarse pile, otherwise it could cause sore hocks

Im thinking about this
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1210404/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14417894/c_2/2%7C14417894%7CRugs+and+mats%7C14417947/c_3/3%7Ccat_14417947%7CCarpet+runners%7C14417950.htm

Only on one level of the hutch with a permenantly attached run (on concrete) :?

I have used one like that, it was fine but the buns chewed it so I replaced it with non-slip vinyl flooring.

ps you'll find a cheaper runner in wilkinsons

Mine chew the lino more than they chew the door mats.

As long as you protect the edges they shouldn't be able to chew the vinyl flooring. With carpets and mats they can just chew the pile.
