  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

it could be from the stress of it all or from any medication given after. how is he other than this, is he eating, drinking and pooping ok? does he seem in discomfort at all?

don't worry, i've been through the worry... about everything

when did he have his ga?

aslong as he is eating, drinking, pooping then he sounds ok and may just be recovering from it all.

has he done anymore dodgy poops? could they just be caecotrophs? or did it seem very runny?

keep an eye on him and see if he does anymore. i know my two have done some excess caecs after a ga, or when stressed. usually only a few though and that was aswell as normal poops.

sometimes medications and stress can affect the gut slightly and cause them. sometimes they leave them for various reasons, but seen as he has just been through a ga, i would say that is why, but any change in his normal behaviour then i would ring the vets for advice. :)

that's good news. it does seem like it may just be from the ga and stress today maybe.

keep a close eye on him and his poops. and ring the vet if there are any more or he just doesn't seem right.

he has done really well after his neuter then. it's a great sign he is eating and drinking as normal.

been up most of nite to keep an eye on him he seems a bit annoyed today been throwin things arounnd his cage and shoved my hand out the way hes normally very placid extremley loving and love stroke time maybe hes just feeling it this mornin or his hormones maybe?

were you given any pain relief for him? maybe speak to the vet about it and update them on the poops and how he is behaving and see what they suggest. if he doesn't seem right he may have to go back to be seen.
