  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Should I use the metoclopromide

For Floppy? He is brighter today and is eating and drinking, but is not eating quite his normal amount.

Would it be best to hold off with the injection and see if he will eat his normal amount of food, but over a longer time? I really don't want to stress him out any more than needed.

He still has his zantac and meloxidyl.

My Vet usually advises to continue metoclop for 24-48 hours after a severe episode of GI stasis. But each case will be unique so really your Vet is the best person to advise you :)

Phoned my vet, and they said they wanted him to keep up with the jags until he is at least 70% back to normal, so the poor boy has had another.

I'm sure they explained that to me yesterday, but everything seemed to go wrong yesterday and I must have forgotten

When Snowdrop has an episode I usually treat for 5 days with Metaclop which is usually 2 days after she has starting eating properly again.
