Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Hi all,

My bunny Archie has suddenly taken to not washing himeself properly. He is lop and is part of a lovely husbun and wife.
When he came out of his cage on Saturday his bum and feet where very messy. He had poo hard on his feet and a messy bum.

I gave him a clean, brushed him and this morning he is exactly the same! His diet hasn't changed. The only thing i can think of is he is moulting a little more???
Can anyone help?
Amy

Possibly it could be a dental issue, rabbits sometimes cant clean if they have problems with their teeth.

Has a vet checked teeth recerntly?

Could be dental as previously mentioned.
Is he overweight at all?. Meaning that he can't reach round there.
Some older bunnies tend to have mobility problems.

I would keep an eye on him and off to the vet if need be.

thanks guys. He's got an appointment for his myxi in a few days so I will get them to do a full MOT. He is eating normally, but having said that he does like his food so maybe he does need more exercise!
My other bun Lucy, is a dental bun so I have a good idea as to what that looks like.
I have to say that all my buns are acting strange at the moment. Being wierd when I go near the hutch to let them out for exercise and when I feed them. Nothing has changed so no idea! I guess it's getting nearer to April??!!

I agree with what the others said, and in addition to that, a bunny may stop grooming if they feel 'rough' in anyway, so it could be a miscellaneous symptom, so its one to be aware of and keep check of.
