  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i think its from bertie not her though....

luckily i have some doses of baytril and will begin tonite as bertie had a massive seizure last night.......i will also give him metacam up until the vet tuesday morning.....for more bloods and hopefully 1st depocillin jab.

his swab was done over a year ago and the vet shoved a really long q tip up his nostrils as far as she could shove it...no ga......:(

it showed it was pasturella and it was sensitive to baytril...........well i dont think so!! poor bertie:(

i have been convinced the connection between his seizures and pasturella were indeed linked......but i am wondering about something richard saunders said to our vet...if it was also a deep inner ear infection too...a GA would be needed and a camera inserted deep into the ear canal.
Also a ct scan on his brain would show lesions or abscesses up.

with him already at risk...ive said no more GAs.....unless life saving surgery....

i know he probably would die from resp failure.....and im sticking to my guns...but then again.....

it wouldnt help massively though..if blanket treatment for EC....PASTURELLA...TOXOPLASMOSIS......that should account hopefully for the neuro side right?

its so weird cos its always when he is grooming his left hand side down as far as his thigh:? when he has the seizures i mean. I guess it could be part of the seizure:?
