Lola's dental - three crown fractures and three spurs :(,vibes please :( U/D pst 80

Jaysmonkey

Wise Old Thumper
Apologies for not being on, my little darling had to go to the vets on monday and was diagnosed as having an upper RTI, so she was put on engomycin and metacam. My vet listened to her gut sounds, checked her teeth, ears and all were fine, but discharge was evident up her nose and her chest had begun to be wheezy.

Now the RTI is fine right now, but today Lola is in stasis. We rang the vets this morning but the rabbits specialist Aiden is on holiday and it just so happens the other specialist called in sick today. Fortunately for me I have vetergesic, metacam, maxalon, zantac and the engomycin at hand, so little Lola had all of these this morning.

I have tried most of her favourite treats to try and tempt her, the only luck we've had is with dried plantain, but even then the consumption is not great. She has refused apple, grapes, carrot and treatums..even fenugreek crunchies. She has eaten plantain and a little coltsfoot, she's still drink and still passing poops..thanks the the gut stimulant and the poos are slightly reduced in size but very golden. Now O/H has gone out with a shopping list of things to buy baby; banana, strawberry, thyme, pineapple etc. All the things which are not regular additions to her diet, but things she enjoys on the odd occasion. I am hoping this will do the trick. I managed to get her to eat a small bit of dill just now by persistantly annoying her with it in her face and she attacked it out of anger and ate a sprig :).

I have an appointment for 9.20am I will get more vetergesic as my supply is depleting and possibility may be then Lola may have a dental.

I really need her munching away, she's not hunched, but not as alert as usual, still washing and getting angry at mummy and daddy and still inquisitive.

I have dealt with her not eating, I have dealt with RTI's, I know what to do. I just need the power of RU vibes to help pull my baby girl through this, she means the world.

So please RU can you spare some vibes for my darling Lola.

Loads of vibes for you and Lola:( You are doing everything you can for her, but damn the rabbit savvy vets! How dare they not be there when they are really needed:roll:

You are in one of my worst rabbit nightmare at the moment:cry:

I know it's just typical, it's just a good job I have the meds at hand, I just need Lola to eat and stop being a stubborn little monkey! :( Thank you xxx

Dandelions were the only thing that got my Storm through stasis, but I guess it's the wrong time of year for them. Sending lots of vibes for Lola, hope she starts nomming soon xx

Hey guys, Thanks for the well wishes.

I tried dried dandelion but she won't touch it :(. Since I live in a flat I also have no access to grass that I know is untreated , so that's also a no-no, unfortunately. It's times like these I wish I had a little pot with dandies and grass growing on my kitchen window ledge!

O/H brought home Choi sum and little miss has had a nibble :D not a lot but a little, which is better than nothing, she also had a little mouthful of banana, and strawberry which mummy so horribly smothered on her front paws (made her ingest it through washing ) Still persisting with the plantain, poos are now dramatically reduced in size due to the decreased hay intake today :(.

I'm starting to notice that when she's trying to pick things up with her mouth she's having difficulty :(, or perhaps I'm being paranoid, on inspection her incisors seem fine, but I'm thinking maybe it's possible the vet I saw on Monday hurt her incisors or mouth in some way when checking her teeth. I trying to look for answers; I know anything can trigger stasis; but she's not doing every typical stasis characteristic, which is annoying but obviously a relief. It just means I cannot pin point the problem. Hopefully tomorrow at the vets we get answers; I'll be up all night with little miss either way :) xx

Aww poor little Lola, you must be worried sick :( The dried plantain and fresh herbs were what got Joejoe munching again eventually.

Just as well you had the meds in the house to tide her over until the vets in the morning.

I'm sending lots of get well vibes to Lola. I hope she improves overnight, poor wee thing xx

Disaster, Aiden is still on holiday and Sarah is sick again. My appointment at 9.20am has now been cancelled. I needed to see a specialist. I am ringing the vets back at 9.15 to see if Aiden can get in before 12, but at the moment it's looking like he won't get in until 4. I cannot wait that long.

She's not hunched, but still quiet, and only insists on eating a small amount of plantain and coltsfoot once more, she's won't touch banana or anything else now; she actually pushes it all away with her front paws. Poos are small, still golden in colour, they are dry but stuck to her nether regions?

She's laid out atm, but won't eat, and the toilet habits are worrying. Please can I have some advice? I have called uni; today is compulsary for me, but I cannot leave Lola. I may have to go to Holly House in Leeds, I hate to burden Lola with a journey though. Does anyone know of another vet in Manchester that is a rabbit specialist? Please, I can't lose my baby :cry: xxx

Do you have any bread Jaysmonkey?

I know its normally a big no no, but in this situation, i think breaking the rules is allowed.

Perhaps a small amount of bread, broken up into small pieces. I know its helped a few members before.

Just an idea.

Loads of vibes for Lola

Hey, no bread unfortunately :(, I do have breadsticks do you think that might be ok?

Thanks Gray, I'm desperate now, I was so hopeful last night, at aboput 3.30am today I got her to have a leaf of parsley and things were looking up but she's refusing everything but the dried things :( and still the quantity is minimal. xx

ive hit quote without reading properly, did you mention she may be having a dental today?

if its dental pain, try breadsticks, but break them up into small ~1cm pieces and soften them with a little water, it might be enough to tempt her?

Oh my gosh thank you gray, I didn't give her a lot but she munched it down with such enthusiasm! :D:love:

Tried her with some herbs after but no , not as good as breadstick apparently. Spoken to the vets, Aiden will get be consulting from 4-6 only, so we have an appointment for 4.35pm today, here's hoping Lola is much improved by then, I'm not going in today she needs her mummy :(.

I'll keep trying her with everything as will O/H, she's been grooming Max and he her which is nice, he keeps flopping with her which is also nice to see, he's looking after her :)
