Just something I've used before.
Me rearranging the furniture exposed a previously virgin corner of carpet to Toby Rabbit. Toby become fixated on trying to digging it up so I've put an opened pot of Tiger Balm on the floor in the corner. As he doesn't like the smell he avoids the corner & the carpet lives another day, result !
After a couple of weeks he'll have forgotten about digging there & I'll be able to put the pot away for another time.
n.b. Toby does have other places where he is encouraged to dig.
