Vet Dilemma!

I need some advice as to where to take Oscar for his neuter next month...

1- Abbey Vets, Durham
This is my local vets where I took him for his vaccinations. It's within walking distance, and the vets there are very good. It's quiet expensive though, and they quoted me £57 (I think) for his neuter.

2- Vets4Pets, Framwellgate Moor
This is a short bus journey away, and I have an RSPCA neuter voucher for here (they were running a free neuter scheme when I got in touch). However, when I emailed them they recommended I got in touch with their Sunderland branch and their rabbit-savvy vet there...

3- Vets4Pets, Sunderland
This is around an hours train journey with two change-overs to get to. They said they would also accept the RSPCA neuter voucher, and they have a rabbit specialist vet though.

Which one would you go to? I'm worried that if I went to Sunderland, if there was an emergency I wouldn't be able to get him back there in time. Or could I get him treated at my normal vets if there was an emergency, even if he was neutered elsewhere? Would my normal vet be annoyed if he was neutered elsewhere?

Thanks for any advice :)

£57 isn't a bad price for a neuter, I think I'd just go there personally if you know/trust them:wave:

£57.00 is quite good really, I phoned a few vets when I was getting mine done and one quoted £136.00 I nearly dropped the phone!! Most were about £70/80 but I eventually took them to the vet I normally use for the cats/dog and they charged £41.00 for a neuter.

£57 sounds pretty good for a neuter! Pipkin had a dental done at the same time but the whole thing cost about £140 (not sure how much of that was the dental and how much the neuter).
I'd go to your usual vets if you trust them. It's easiest to get to as well.

Wow, I guess that £57 is a pretty good deal then :) Plus I would be happy knowing that if anything happens, it's only a 5 minute walk down the road...

The OH has agreed to give me half towards it too :)

£57 sounds pretty reasonable. I think that's about what our vet charges now too.

Can i ask where you got the neutering voucher please if i could get hold of one i could probably afford to get both my girls done at the same time :)

Hi, I just emailed my local RSPCA branch, they were running a scheme up here a while back (I think) and gave me a free neutering voucher

Can I just ask how much the neutering is at the Vets4Pets?

We got three males neutered at the one in Kempston, and they gave us 5% off. It was £52 to start with. If we'd bought six or more it would be 10% off.
It's the same group deals with vaccinations.

I'd go with the one you trusted and could get to easily, though, as bunnies are often very stressed after being neutered and a long car/bus journey is literally the last thing they want.

I never actually knew how much it would cost to have him neutered at vets4pets, I have a voucher to get it done for free, but I'm guessing that wouldn't cover aftercare...

It was the long journeys I was worried about, so have decided to stick local :)
