Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can anyone recommend reasonable pet insurance company for my rabbit?

I am looking for a reasonable priced Pet Insurance to take out for my bunny

Can anyone recommend any good insurance companies?

I have always used Petplan.

I had my first 2 rabbits insured with them for a year but didn't renew the policy as my numbers had risen. I didn't claim on the policy, but I liked knowing it was there just in case.

Now we have 8 we just put some money aside each week into our 'vet pot'. We also have my OH's credit card handy in dire emergencies.

My dog is insured with Petplan but we haven't had to claim yet. My mum used them for our old cat and they were very good with claims, we always had a cheque back within 2 weeks no hassle.

Insuring one rabbit will be fairly cheap. I always go for the 'covered for life' policies. That means they will pay for medication for life and recurring illnesses

I would use PetPlan.

There are other cheaper providers but the coverage isn't as good. Some of the cheaper providers will only insure you for one year at a time. This means that if your rabbit gets sick you won't be able to renew the insurance.

With PetPlan you can always renew the insurance and they will still pay out for the treatment as long as you keep paying. (subject to usual excess and rules)

Petplan.

I can't fault them on claims at all - I ended up claming over £1800 for Joejoe when he got ill and I was still in the first months free trial so they hadn't yet had a penny out of me but they paid up directly to the vet with absolutely no question whatsoever, I can tell you it was such a relief that whatever treatments the vets wanted to do I could just say yes go for it without worrying where the money was going to come from, as to be honest there is absolutely no way I could have got that kind of money from anywhere so I dread to think what would have been the outcome without the insurance.

I was expecting them to hike up the premiums big time this year for Joe, but it's gone up less than a £1 a month :)

We got Jess shortly after Joe was ill and I inusred her straight away and they gave us a 10% discount on both policies as a multipet discount.

 would always recommend pet plan. We have all four of ours insured with them. They paid directly to the vets when Shauny had his stasis no problems at all:D

Petplan.
Have never had any problems with them paying out for my two and my bridge bunny Kermit x

Petplan.

Just remember to claim and dont pay for it yourself

(Yes, i've done that now...)

Pet Plan it is then,

I called them and gave me %15 discount plus first month free :)

They sounded very friendly over the phone and helpful, I am Liable for the first £65 they said anything after that is payable by them.

Thanks for your advise

Thats great, it really is such peace of mind. At £300+ for 1 nights intensive treatment the bills can soon rack up at an alarming rate so it's worth every penny :)
