  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Pressley just escaped from his cage. We have just walk paper the living room and he has just ripped a bit of paper off the wall and eaten it. There is still wet paste on the paper. Will he be ok or should i take him to the out of hours vets?
Many thanks for any help x

How much did he eat?

If it was only a wee bit i would try to get him to drink water and eat plenty of hay to get it moving through him.

Vibes xx

It was about an inch of paper.

Thank you for the advice, was up with him all night as he had cold ears and wasnt doing much hes picked up this morning and been to the toilet and is now eating so hopeful he wont be doing that again

Thank u for the vibes as well :D x x x

Morning  Glad to hear he's perking up.

Though it is only a small amount, I think a phone call to the vet would be a good idea - some wall paper pastes contain nasties.

Sending loads of vibes and well done him for eating and pooping xx

My bun ate a hand sized pice of bin liner when I was cleaning her out once, she pulled it in the cage so I didn't notice until I saw her munching happily !!! It did pass through ok but it was such a worry. I phoned the vet who said keep an eye on her but she was ok in the end.
