Alibunmum
Wise Old Thumper
I have only been keeping rabbits for around nine months and am totally and utterly hooked! I have two of my own, a spayed female called Millie, who I got from a free to a good home ad, and a neutered male called Floppy. They were in a trio with a wee girl called Mittens but unfortunately she had to be put down due to not thriving regardless of lots of treatment.
When I got Millie I also got a fair sized rabbit hutch with an attached run. I also have a large separate run which lives in the front garden and I have an enclosed back garden which my rabbits have free access to during the day. When I had bonded all the rabbits I had a spare hutch and, as I'm sure many people will understand, felt it needed filled! I got in touch with a local rescue organisation and they were looking for foster homes.
On Thursday, Simba, a golden brown lionhead rabbit, came to stay. I will have him till his vaccs are up-to-date and he's been neutered. I've nursed both of mine through their neuters and hope this experience will help to make sure his operation and recovery go smoothly. After that he will hopefully go on to be adopted. I have 3 children who are all excited about having him an helping him to be socialised ready to be adopted.
I just love the feeling that I am helping out and making life better for this bunny and hopefully many more in the future.
