Year of the Rabbit. Bad luck for rabbits?

Colyflower

Alpha Buck
Greater understanding of rabbits or greater numbers that end up in rescue centres? With Easter coming up and the Chinese New Year of Rabbit on Feb 3rd will this be a year of bad luck for rabbits?

PETA says that there have been hundreds of rabbits bought in China already, purely for the good luck that they are meant to bring. Will this be another worrying trend seen in the UK this year?

I thought this too when I saw it was year of the rabbit, hope it doesn't spark of people here buying them on a whim too

It is worrying isn't it! :( I can't imagine it will happen on such a large scale as in Asia though but it could add fuel to the fire.

Weird! Just this second I've received a text on my phone from sky news about this issue!

FYI I did try and do a search for any other threads on here about the subject but the search option wasn't working properly so sorry if I've doubled up.

 I posted something similar. http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?t=264212

Hopefully things will be different this time round.

I'm afraid that's exactly what will happen. The Chinese are not notorious for their respect of animal welfare either. A sad truth too, since their culture is so ancient and noble and one can hardly believe they can't do any better than that.
