Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can rabbits catch anything from Chickens?

I know its a really odd question.

I have a rescue rabbit, who has come from pretty bad conditions. Basically he lived with chickens, and was in such a bad state he needed to be put under to be shaved and help get him into a better state. He was also treated for ear mites and skin mites

His ear mites have gone, anf he has no visible symptoms of skin mites but he has scaly skin on his ears. He has been treated by the vets previous to getting him, and I have treated him before Christmas with xeno 450

After two course of ivermicin I would have thought any mites etc would be well and truely gone. I have been talking with the Rach and we have come up with the thought that it is not rabbit related but actually chicken related.

Anyone have a clue as to what it is? I am of to the vet in the next few days and wanted a few suggestions.
