  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi All

My Dylan has been to the vets today and was sedated at around 10am and brought back round at 11am and was doing very well. I am starting to worry now though as he hasnt drank a drop of water or eaten food sincce this morning. He is still a little sleepy but he has been grooming himself and has done a few poops. In my experience Dylan usually eats and drinks quite soon after an being sedated. Can anyone tell me if a need to sering feed and water him, have i left him to long or do i wait longer?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Teri

Glad he has started drinking, if he isnt eating he really needs to keep his gut moving, try him with his best foods anything he loves, i also put a bit of warm water in my buns pellets when he is off food so there slightly warm and soggy, but if he doesnt start eating you may need to help him,or even call the vets for advice, did the vet give you any critical care?
