  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Spinal problems and periscoping

If a bunnys spine snakes side to side, isnt the bunny going to be less inclined to do periscopes?? Have seen a binky......but in 2 yrs, no periscopes.

My thoughts exactly.Hes never done it,so it occurred to me today. He can flop, bink and monorail but no periscopes.Dear wee man.:(

Well he is obviously a happy little chap if he binkies

Some of my Buns never periscope, they are too lazy

My Inca cant really periscope, she has spinal problems and also no tail to balance her. She has tried to copy Herbie in the past, but she just kinda falls over. She also can't clean her face with her two hands without stumbling over at some point.
Still she battles on through and manages fine :)

Lily falls over sometimes onto her back and just lays there till she feels ready to flip over or I help her.She uses one hand alternately to wash her face, which I think is cute and she realises its what she has to do.

Mine can't periscope either as they can't straighten their spines. Some of ours could binky to start with but as they got older this also became a problem. Didn;t stop them being happy though :D
